Urban Basement Remodel

With the completion of this urban basement remodel comes that beautiful satisfied feeling that always makes all the hard work well worth doing.  The only thing that was left to complete with this project from the last update was the millwork.  Everything came together perfectly on this face lift to give this couple more usable, updated living space in their home to welcome their newest member Avery to the family.  Congratulations Andrea and Bill!

We also brought in one of our very special items for this project which is the fabrication of a custom barn wood door.  The opening across this wall is only 6’3″ so custom was the only thing that would make this door work with the high end finish of the rest of the space.  Upon entering the basement space this door is not only a functional access to the utility side of the basement, but also an interesting focal point with its rough sawn reclaimed finish.  Look forward to our next post coming soon which will feature more about the fabrication and hanging of a custom barnwood door in the near future.

All of the trim for this project was milled by Leiht Restoration using rough sawn lumber from Liberty Hardwoods out of Ankeny, Iowa.  The material of choice was Aspen throughout which painted up perfectly, as well as having a price point that worked well within the budget constraints of our client.  One last item worth noting are the 2 custom cabinet doors fabricated to give the entire bookcase an extremely custom built in and functional finish for this basement remodel.
